Getting named
What it costs to get your business recommended by ChatGPT
Published · Updated
EUR 1,500 a month at Van Found, for one client per category. Across the market, ChatGPT itself puts the price of this work at $500 to $1,400 a month for smaller providers and $2,000 to $10,000 or more for larger programmes. Nobody can sell you a place in the answer, because the assistants do not sell them. You are paying for the work that gets you named, and this page sets out what that work is and what it should cost.
You cannot pay ChatGPT
Ads exist. OpenAI sells advertising in ChatGPT, and on 15 September 2026, asked "how much does it cost to get recommended by AI", ChatGPT described its own ad pricing and then drew the line:
Paying for a ChatGPT ad does not make ChatGPT's organic answers recommend your company. OpenAI says ads are separate from answers and do not influence the model's responses.
An ad sits next to the answer, labelled. The names inside the answer come from the pages the model reads. That is the only route in, and it is the same route for a two-person clinic and a hospital group.
What the market charges
We asked ChatGPT for the going rate and logged the reply. Its bands, in its words: "roughly $500 to $1,400/month for some smaller providers to $2,000 to $10,000+/month for more substantial programmes." Earlier the same day, asked which companies do this work, it named entry offers at $499 and $500 a month and described one as "audits, schema, content restructuring, citation building, and monitoring."
Most of that list is software output: a crawl, a schema file, a dashboard of prompts checked by a script. Useful, and you can buy it for the price of a phone contract. The part that moves the number, getting your practice mentioned on pages the model trusts, is the part a script cannot do, and it is where the price jumps to the second band.
Almost nobody in this category prints a figure. The two that ChatGPT found are at the bottom of the range. We print ours because a buyer comparing quotes deserves a number, and because the number is the same for everyone.
What EUR 1,500 a month buys
One operator, no software, and one client per category at a time. In a month that means:
- Pages on your site that answer the exact questions your buyers put to an assistant, in the words they use. You approve each one before it goes live, and it stays yours if we part.
- Work on the sources the assistants read for your category: reviews, professional registers, association listings, directories, the trade press. This is the slow part and the part that counts.
- The same forty buyer questions re-checked across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, with a count of how many answers name you. You see the count move, or not, every month.
- Nobody else in your category, in your city, while you are with us. If we work for you, we do not work for the clinic across the canal.
Not included: ads, a dashboard, a login, a team. If you want a tool, there are good ones at $500.
Why not the cheaper tier
Because you would be buying a measurement of a number nobody is moving. A monitoring tool tells you that ChatGPT does not name you, and it is right. It will be right again next month. The work that changes the answer is a person writing pages that answer real questions and getting your practice onto lists, registers and articles where the model looks. That person costs more than a script, and one of them, working for one client per category, is what the EUR 1,500 pays for.
The honest counter-argument: if you already have a marketing team with time, a $500 tool plus their afternoons may get you there. Most practices we speak to do not have those afternoons.
Is it worth paying someone at all
Ask one question first: do your customers ask an assistant who to use? If they do, and it names your competitor and not you, the cost of doing nothing is that competitor's new patients or cases. You know what one of those is worth to you better than we do. Set EUR 1,500 against that number, not against the price of a tool.
If your customers are not asking assistants yet, you are early. Early is cheap, and it is also the only time being first in your category is on offer.
Either way, expect little movement in the first three months. The assistants pick up new sources at their own pace, and per Ahrefs research, a cold start is flat for sixty to ninety days before anything shows. A provider who promises faster is describing something other than this work.
Before you pay anyone, including us
Check whether you are named today. Ask ChatGPT what your customer would ask, in a fresh chat with memory off, and count the names. Or send us your website and we do it for you, free, across all four assistants, with the names back in a few working days. Then decide.
Van Found is an Amsterdam consultancy that gets clinics, law firms and other professional practices named when ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity answer. One client per category, at a time.
